I decided to report from above the clouds and film a festive Flight of Dreams, which I found out about directly from Cash for Kids, the charity who was organising the event. I developed the story by taking it from a human interest angle, focusing on a disadvantaged family who were benefiting from the experience and by addressing the relatively high level of child poverty in Manchester.
The story appeals to families, especially across Greater Manchester, as this is the area Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas appeal is aiming to support.
I treated the report for TV, online and print as I wanted to publish a strong human interest story across a variety of platforms to showcase my versatility and multimedia skills. This also helped Cash for Kids raise awareness of their Christmas campaign, as they published the video on Key103’s website.
